RE: How to refurbish and replace a turbo

Which compressor wheel did you use after you snapped the turbine shaft? I only ask because the turbine wheel is balanced to the compressor wheel so if you used the turbine wheel from one turbo with the compressor wheel from a different turbo the balancing will be a mile out. Try pouring a kettle full of boiling water over the short coolant pipe before removing. The brass seal thing is the thrust bearing. Petrol and a small brush works great if you dont want to use your dishwasher! The wife would kill me if i even thought about it :-) Excellent write up and photos and if i had the time and patience i would do something similar. Keep it up. Hows about that 19T downpipe for a pattern and i could probably do 2 at the same time if you want one?

I was so impressed, until about half way through I spotted the instructions you were following!!!! Seriously though Pete, a great write up. I'll be round next weekend and you can run through it in real time on mine :)
